We are returning to Caffé Lena on Thursday August 6!!! Do not miss this show!!!
Have we mentioned how good it feels to sing "Bella Ciao" on a big stage with your favorite people? Because that happened. We’re still glowing from the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival last week — one of those weekends that reminds us why we do this. The great Radoslav Lorković joined us on accordion for a rowdy “Bella Ciao” that we’re pretty sure is still echoing off the hillside. Our Young Band — Wes Chalfant, William Chalfant, and Nate Mondschein — were, as always, sensational, and we came home grinning ear to ear and not even that sunburned. Plus, we got to share the workshop stage with our comrades Isabella and Isaac from High Tea and our new friends from Twangtown Paramours.
Now we’re looking ahead: this Tuesday a free livestream for The Folk Project; a return to Caffè Lena, one of our favorite listening rooms, and First Encounter, the Cape Cod coffeehouse we can’t wait to get back to. Read on, and come sing with us in person — or from your couch.
On the drive out to Falcon Ridge, Katryna and I listened to the rough mixes of The Big Idea Soundtrack on an actual CD that I burned myself (remember those?) We’re kind of ecstatic about it. It’s a very weird thing to listen to these tracks, some of which we recorded in 2003, some in 2016, some just last month, and hear a band that is us but not us. The Big Idea, for those who might not know, is a fictional band Nerissa invented in about 2000 and subsequently started writing novels about. The first novel is almost complete (really!) and will come out into the world sometime before the next millennium. We have plans to cover a Big Idea song at Caffè Lena!
Finally, Welcome Table Chorus is BAAAAACK!!! Our awesome community of singers reunites on Tuesdays, starting September 15, meeting from 7:00–8:30pm, at First Churches’ Lyman Auditorium in Northampton, MA. No audition, no need to read music — just come sing with us. Sign up here— space fills up fast.
